The heart behind cello
Created with Intention
Cello is a warm and welcoming country café and retail boutique in the heart of Hepburn Springs, thoughtfully curated by mother-daughter duo Kathy and Hannah.
Having worked together across fashion, retail and hospitality for many years, Cello is the culmination of everything we love most. While we've shared countless projects along the way, this is undoubtedly the most "us" venture we have ever undertaken.
A sister business to Maze Café & Larder in Daylesford, Cello was created with a simple vision: to build a beautiful space where people feel instantly at ease. Every detail has been considered with intention, from the cheerful lemon-coloured façade that welcomes you in, to the grounding sense of warmth that greets you as you step through the door.
Inside, high pressed metal ceilings, rich earthy tones and bold colour choices create a space that feels both cosy and uplifting. Shelving lined with gourmet local produce, alongside a carefully curated selection of exceptional products from further afield, invites exploration and discovery. Tucked amongst the café is a retail nook filled with giftware, fashion, sustainable homewares and thoughtful treasures we genuinely love.
At the heart of Cello is food worth lingering over. Our menu celebrates wholesome café classics with a Cello twist, from comforting brunch favourites to hearty lunches made with quality ingredients and a focus on flavour, seasonality and simplicity. Alongside the menu sits our growing collection of house-made jams, chutneys, relishes and preserves — a cornerstone of the Cello experience. Crafted in small batches and showcased throughout the café, our produce collection is designed to be enjoyed at the table and taken home to stock your pantry, share with friends or gift to someone special.
Whether you're settling into a cosy corner by the fire, enjoying a sunlit table overlooking the Hepburn streetscape, or relaxing beneath the vines in our quiet pet-friendly courtyard, Cello is a place to slow down and savour the moment.
More than just a café, Cello is a place to gather, graze and linger a little longer.
